Misdemeanors

A misdemeanor is a less serious crime than a felony crime and is punishable by the potential of one year or less of confinement. Most misdemeanors are punishable by up to 93 days in jail, but a high misdemeanor is punishable by up to two years in prison. Most misdemeanor offenses are handled in the District Court. The chart below shows the criminal misdemeanor process.
