Felonies

A felony is a serious crime. Under Michigan law, a felony is any criminal offense which carries a potential term of confinement greater than one year (other than high misdemeanors). Felonies are classified by the seriousness of the offense. Felony proceedings begin in District Court but may move to Circuit Court. A typical felony process is shown below.
